Why Made-to-Measure Takes Time
When you place an order for a Nabee made-to-measure pants, you're not pulling something off a shelf. Your pants don't exist yet. They will be cut, sewn, dyed, washed, ironed, and packed specifically for you. That process takes up to 12 weeks, and here's exactly what happens during that time.
The Process, Step by Step
1. Order Collection
We accept orders and collect them into a production batch. Made-to-measure manufacturing works in runs rather than one at a time, which is what allows us to keep quality high and costs reasonable. Your order enters the queue and is grouped with others heading into the same production cycle.
2. Batch Submission to Manufacturing
Once a batch is ready, we submit all the orders together to our manufacturing partners. Each order includes your exact measurements, your chosen style, and all the specifications that make your pair yours.
3. Fabric Cutting
Your fabric is cut to your measurements. This is where made-to-measure diverges entirely from off-the-rack production. There is no standard pattern being used. The cut is based on the dimensions you provided, which is why getting your measurements right matters so much.
4. Sewing
The cut pieces are sewn together. Seams, pockets, waistbands, and leg openings are all constructed at this stage. This is the most labour-intensive part of the process and where the quality of the finished garment is determined.
5. Dyeing
Once sewn, the garment goes through the dyeing process. This gives the denim its colour and character. Dyeing after construction rather than before allows for a more even, consistent result across the finished piece.
6. Washing
After dyeing, the garment is washed to set the colour, soften the fabric, and begin the break-in process. This step also ensures the denim has already gone through its initial shrinkage before it reaches you.
7. Ironing and Quality Check
Each garment is pressed and inspected before it leaves the facility. We check the construction, the finish, and the measurements against your original order.
8. Packing and Shipping
Your pants are packed and shipped directly to you. Delivery time varies depending on your location, but the 12-week window covers the full journey from order to your door.
